We have reached the end of a very busy year, lots of our usual fire sessions coming up in December when we made bread, toasted marshmallow and s’mores and pop corn over the fire to make our ever popular marshpops!
We are very excited to be running a special 6 hour Christmas Holiday Session on Monday 22nd of December which will run from 9.30am until 3.30pm in Blackheath. These are wonderful opportunities for children to PLAY in the woods we have on our site and not be at all hurried. We will have a fire at lunchtime too and make Christmas damper bread, flavoured with spices and raisins!
Our Forest Sprite session on Friday mornings has grown again to includes some home-educated children in addition to the pre-school children. It is so inspiring to start children off on their Forest School journey and watch them develop and as they learn about plants and animals and learn to use tools to make things from natural materials, such as bug hotels, puzzles, spinning tops and leaf printing, to name a few.
We run after-school sessions too! These are either attached to a school or at one of our sites. We also offer school pick-ups at some schools. All these sessions follow school term dates, but we often finish up a week before end of term, so children can participate in end-of-term activities at their individual schools.
We occasionally have the pleasure of going into schools to deliver a series of curriculum sessions. So often these are the first experiences in nature for some of the children. Our aim is to get children to be comfortable in nature and to lose their fear of being outdoors. School teachers out there, please feel free to contact James if you are interested in s block of curriculum sessions, or just one or two!
Forest School birthday parties areever popular with children and grown-ups alike and are a great way to celebrate birthdays! At these we usually do a fire and cooking, we also do some crafting.
We have also started running Obstacle Course parties in addition to our fire parties. These are loosely based on the Tough Mudder model, but not Tough Mudder as we have adapted it for children – climbing, crawling, jumping, swinging and much more.
We have Christmas coming up, so be sure to book for our Christmas Holiday session in Blackheath! We always run at least one session every holiday and half-term, so keep your eyes peeled on Instagram for updates!
