We have reached the end of a very eventful winter, lots of our usual fire sessions coming up soon to mark the end of the spring term and the arrival of meteorological spring! We have also had great fun helping children celebrate their birthdays with a fire or obstacle course party!
British summer time starts on the 29th of March, so that will give us more daylight to finish our afternoon sessions.
We are very excited to be running a special 6 hour Easter Holiday Session on Wednesday, the 1st of April which will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm at our big, wild site in Blackheath. These are wonderful opportunities for children to PLAY in the woods we have on our site and not be at all hurried. We will have a fire at lunchtime too and make Easter damper bread, flavoured with raisins!
Our Forest Sprite session on Friday mornings is growing. It is so inspiring to start children off on their Forest School journey and watch them develop and as they learn about plants and animals and learn to use tools to make things from natural materials, such as bug hotels, puzzles, spinning tops and leaf printing, to name a few.
Our after-school sessions are either attached to a school or at one of our sites. We also offer school pick-ups at some schools. All these sessions follow school term dates, but we often finish up a week before end of term, so children can participate in end-of-term or year activities at their individual schools.
School teachers out there, please feel free to contact James if you are interested in a block of curriculum sessions, or just one or two!
There is much to celebrate at Forest School over the next few months; St Patrick’s Day, Mothers’ Day, Easter, Earth Day, St Georges Day and last but not least - Fathers’ Day!
We are now offering Obstacle Course Parties at our wooded site in Blackheath, these are loosely based on the Tough Mudder model and are hugely enjoyed by the children. Forest School birthday parties are ever popular with children and grown-ups alike and are a great way to celebrate birthdays! At these we usually do a fire and cooking, we also do some crafting.
We have Easter coming up, so be sure to book for this session in Blackheath! We always run at least one session every holiday and half-term, so keep your eyes peeled on Instagram for updates!
